Middle Ground Motherhood (MGM) is Creating Mother-Centred Communities.

MGM is a social enterprise that advocates for mother-centred communities and supports women’s matrescence. We work with individuals and organisations in Adelaide, South Australia, to develop and advocate for programs, policy, and planning that supports mothers and families to thrive.

For mothers - We support you to make positive changes for yourself, your family and your community. We run Women's Circles and group programs that provide connection and nourishment.

For organisations - Our custom solutions enhance mothers' and parents’ engagement and increase attraction and retention.

MGM is led by Sarah Cleggett, a mother of two inquisitive and loving little boys.

I have 15 years of experience as a social worker and social planner in both government and community-based settings.

In my professional life, I started social work in drug and alcohol services, and psychiatric in-patient environments. Those early work settings confirmed to me how damaging the structural barriers in our society can be to the lives of vulnerable people and the importance of creating a supportive community. It confirmed for me the need for a social justice perspective in public policy.

I’ve since worked in local government, assessing and managing grants, delivering community projects, conducting social planning and developing social policy. Some of my highlights have included:

- Helping a community garden to flourish
- Growing a lifelong learning group for older people
- Establishing a movie series with a volunteer team to bring classic cinema to the community
- Supporting an advisory panel made up of people with lived experience of disability.

I am a trained breastfeeding educator and have facilitated groups for new mothers since 2018.

I am completing a Master of Politics and Policy, with a research focus on improving outcomes for mothers in early motherhood and beyond.
