Core Focus: Motherhood
About
I’m Dr. Angele Close, a clinical psychologist, motherhood coach, circle facilitator, and certified mindfulness meditation teacher. For over a decade, I’ve helped women overcome the blocks that keep them small, fearful, and people-pleasing, leading to resentment and self-doubt.
In my 10+ years as a clinical psychologist, the most impactful model I've found for navigating motherhood is Internal Family Systems (IFS), an evidence-based model for healing and growth. I've completed Level One training through the IFS Institute and I continue to receive ongoing consultation and training.
Alongside IFS, my training in matrescence through Amy Taylor-Kabbaz’s Mama Rising Facilitator Program has been life-changing. These teachings gave me a language to understand the rollercoaster of motherhood emotions and thoughts, especially the myths of the ‘perfect mother’ that fueled my inner critic.
IFS and matrescence also revealed why old wounds and traumas are triggered in parenting. If our own needs weren’t met in childhood, our children often reflect what we’re still longing for. While this can feel overwhelming, it’s also an opportunity to heal and break cycles of intergenerational neglect, shame, or trauma.
The best way I’ve found to be the best mom to my three kids is by focusing on my own healing. I guide moms through matrescence informed by Internal Family Systems to help them heal what’s blocking them from showing up as the Self-led mama they want to be.
I’d love to support you on your journey to fully embrace and enjoy motherhood. Let’s connect to see if working together is the right next step for you.
